Rommel and Rochelle

Today my boss, Rommel, will be married to Rochelle. A week after their wedding, they will migrate to UK where Rochelle is a currently a registered nurse.

The reception was at Santuario de San Jose in Ortigas. Since I'm a GI (Geographical Idiot), I didn't dare venture out on my own but wanted to go with Chris instead. We decided to go together to the reception. Lo and behold, her driver was late - she was scheduled to pick me up at 6pm but they picked me up at 8pm, half an hour before we left, rain started pouring, it was raining quite hard that I contemplated on not going to the reception. It seemed as if the God's didn't want me to attend this wedding.

But finally after a quick 45 minute drive, we arrived at Glass Garden. The guests were eating and the program was in full swing. In fact, everyone was already seated. Entrance to the reception was through a grand staircase so everyone could see that we're fashionably late! Eeek!

Nevertheless, we did catch the wedding pictures and video so that was a relief.

Great things about the reception:
1. Food was served buffet style- so even if we were late, there was still food available.

2. Invest in a good videographer - everything was beautifully captured. I felt like I was there in the reception.
3. Ambiance is everything - the romantic atmosphere of Glass Garden made me teary-eyed
4. Everything started on time - smooth transition of the events- no dull moment
5. keep it simple - fuss free design and program

Since they requested that the gifts should be something they can bring to UK, I thought about giving them an external hard drive since I wanted to buy one for myself. The EHD would store all their new memories as man and wife and as a Brit. Then Jamie thought about covering the EHD with something quirky. So this morning they went to Greenhills and made a picture of Rommel and Rochelle in traditional British garb over the hard drive. I really loved the way it turned out. I hope they'll be happy with our gift.

KRIS KRINGLE: Something Big

I never thought it would be hard to find something BIG for Php 100 pesos ($2) I short listed the following for my fashionable friend: ...a big box of tissue (useful) ...a big toblerone (but this is WAY over budget) ...a big trash bin ...a case of big oatmeal cookies (last resort) ...a big mirror ...a big bookmark (which i couldn't find anywhere) ...a BIG beer (unrelated) ...a big organizer it's quite difficult really. But I must search for something else. PRESSURE! On a side note, Jamie treated us to Pizza Hut's Lechon pizza. After eating, I felt like I would pass out at any moment due to high cholesterol but it was quite tasty if you're a fan of Lechon (roasted pig). The pizza did taste a bit like Mang Tomas' lechon sauce. A big slice of Pizza hut's lechon pizza

Around Manila: Exploring the streets of J.P. Rizal in Marikina

It is funny how we know the history and culture of a land we do not live in yet know so little about where we live. Thus, began our mission to explore Manila, one city at a time. DESTINATION: Marikina Starting Time: 11am End Time: 5pm How to get to J.P. Rizal in Marikina - Waze (app) and Google Maps Marikeno (native people in Marikina) are said to be the most disciplined people in the Philippines. If the cleanliness around Marikina were a testament to that, Marikenos would pass with flying colors. The streets I could say were similar to those in Singapore - free from litter and we saw people from households cleaning their own front area even if it were facing a street. SHOE CAPITAL of the Philippines Marikina produces 70% of the shoes in the country. and holds the World's Largest Pair of Shoes, recognized by the Guinness World Records. In Marikina, you can find the Shoe Museum which houses 800 out of the 3000 shoes that were part of the famous shoe collection of the
