Shortlisted!

I was so happy and honestly quite surprised when I was shortlisted in our Human Experience Photo Contest!Out of 126 photos submitted, the creative team head of Black Pencil and Group Account Director of Leo Burnett narrowed down the photos to just 10 finalist. It was quite an honor- although ironic as well to have a picture that was taken in the Monde area but with Coke as the team name.

Anniversary Puzzle Game

It is so frustrating to be the leader of a team, to be one of the first team to complete the task and take the last place due to technical difficulty. Our team completed the puzzle. We were supposed to get the second place but when we were about to put up the puzzle, it fell apart because the double sided tape wouldn't stick!

The start of many changes

So first it started with the account then the place for now the hair. After a long debate, I finally decided to have permanent color on my hair. Not very obvious though. I just wanted to lighten my hair. But that's a start! Watch out for more changes for the better!

An ironic Friday the Thirteenth

Superstition say that Friday the Thirteenth is a day of bad luck. Although there is no written evidence of the friday the thirteenth superstition, there are a lot of theories about its origin. Theory: thirteen (twelve is the number of completeness) is an unlucky number and that Friday (Canterbury Tales and Black Friday) is an unlucky day. There are other theories - check them out at Wikipedia Friday the thirteenth started out like any other day. During lunch break, I finally finished the Thai movie Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which got me giddy the whole afternoon. I stumbled on a four second video where my dad was speaking which led to non-stop tears. Finally 6pm arrived and I was raring to go home and start the weekend. Unfortunately, Chadey did set up a meeting with me after COB. Initially, I though we were going to have an evaluation but at 5pm, I went over to their place and saw Pinky holding a collage of pictures, that was when I had a little hunch that the evaluation meeting

Third time's the charm? NOT!

For the past couple of days, I've had the unlucky streak of sharing the same cab with person A. Well, honestly, I really don't notice who I ride with except for this super rude "dude" who shall not be named. The first unfortunate cab ride. He was sitting beside me and yes, everyone knows that the back of the cab is not meant fo four people so everyone should adjust. Butno, this guy sat with his cab on the seat, with his arm crossed across his chest with his elbow digging into my ribs. He couldn't care less. The second unfortunate cab ride I was seated in front - lucky me - he sat at the back. Normally three people can lean on the seat while one had to lean forward. Because of this "dude", two people ended up leaning forward, which never happens. The third unfortunate cab ride I was seated in front again - God is with me - but the barker asked the three guys behind me to share the fare since it was impossible to fit another person inside. He grudgingly ga

Did I bite off more than I can chew?

It's been 4 1/2 days since I transferred from my old team to my new team. I've been tasked to beautify a big presentation only to realize that I need to present in the same presentation. Nevermind that I have been with the account for a couple of days or that I'm completely at a loss and have yet to be introduced to the client. Whew, but I did OT yesterday and it was surprisingly not a chore. I still feel elated, excited and nervous at the same time. Hopefully, this feeling will last even after the turn of events this Thursday and the final turnover of the account. Did I mention I suddenly have training tomorrow and that I need to come back for adry run and then go back to the training? A day in a life - rollercoaster that is.

Rommel and Rochelle

Today my boss, Rommel, will be married to Rochelle. A week after their wedding, they will migrate to UK where Rochelle is a currently a registered nurse. The reception was at Santuario de San Jose in Ortigas. Since I'm a GI (Geographical Idiot), I didn't dare venture out on my own but wanted to go with Chris instead. We decided to go together to the reception. Lo and behold, her driver was late - she was scheduled to pick me up at 6pm but they picked me up at 8pm, half an hour before we left, rain started pouring, it was raining quite hard that I contemplated on not going to the reception. It seemed as if the God's didn't want me to attend this wedding. But finally after a quick 45 minute drive, we arrived at Glass Garden. The guests were eating and the program was in full swing. In fact, everyone was already seated. Entrance to the reception was through a grand staircase so everyone could see that we're fashionably late! Eeek! Nevertheless, we did catch the wedding

The BIG move

I didn't know that I had to move out this week. Good thing I thought about hauling my things over the weekend. Moving out was a breeze. I just made two trips and I was officially out of my old wing and into the new wing. My new place has more space. I have a consultation chair in front of me so I don't have to turn around everytime someone wants to talk to me which is very convenient - my neck has the bad habit of cracking every single time I turn my head. People here do go home earlier than my old team. The ladies restroom is more accessible now than before. There's no TV here though. :(

Starbucks, Royal Meeting, Cutest Guest, and Royal Despedida

The cutest guest carried by Noj. I want to have a baby like this. So adorable! Since today is Rommel's Despedida, we all had to dress up in "royal" garb. Here's a pair of royalty in a meeting. Starbucks started the week with a bang with their 50% off on Frappucinos from 12nn to 2pm. It's a good thing we were there early because by 1:30PM, the lines were getting crazy!

Food in Review: Mr. Kurosawa

LOCATION: Eastwood Mall, Libis Time: 9:30PM What attracted me first to Mr.Kurosawa were these huge zebra stripped menus that seemed to call out my name (I have a thing for zebra stripes). I was also craving for Japanese/Korean food again. Since we were in a celebratory mood for my mom's upcoming birthday plus the fact that they suffered two hours in traffic - take note of Switchfoot concert and Megamall Labor Day sale = heavy traffic along EDSA-they were quite famished by the time we stepped inside Mr.Kurosawa. We wanted to order a lot (takaw tingin) so we finally settled with their big orders good for 4. A sampler platter really but I couldn't recall the name since it was my brother who ordered for us. The platter had a huge bowl of greens, fried rice, shrimp, california maki, tuna sashimi, tempura squid, chicken yakitori and fried oysters. We had to wait for 30 minutes before the food was served. A guy on the next table kept glancing at us because he ordered, ate and paid for

Mini Vacation for the Labor Day Weekend

I was too lazy to get out of the house. The weather was around 32 degrees and getting a cab from our house would mean a ten to thirty minutes wait, depending on my luck. Check in time for the hotel was 2pm. I was still at home at 1:45PM. So even if Little Giants was showing on HBO, I hauled myself, duffel bag and all, out of the house at 2PM and patiently waited for a cab under the sun. Fifteen minutes and dozens of unavailable cabs later, I managed to hail a cab. Unfortunately, the cab was in a hurry. He was driving like a maniac and cursing like there was no tomorrow. To make things worse, he requested that I get off at Camp Crame because he couldn't make his next appointment in time and will be reprimanded by his boss. I half pitied the cab driver, he asked me to pay Php 50, while my bill was at Php 105 already, I had no choice but to agree under the condition that he absolutely had to get me another cab. I was not going to go down unless I had a replacement, I had a huge duffel
