Mini Vacation for the Labor Day Weekend

I was too lazy to get out of the house. The weather was around 32 degrees and getting a cab from our house would mean a ten to thirty minutes wait, depending on my luck. Check in time for the hotel was 2pm. I was still at home at 1:45PM. So even if Little Giants was showing on HBO, I hauled myself, duffel bag and all, out of the house at 2PM and patiently waited for a cab under the sun. Fifteen minutes and dozens of unavailable cabs later, I managed to hail a cab. Unfortunately, the cab was in a hurry. He was driving like a maniac and cursing like there was no tomorrow. To make things worse, he requested that I get off at Camp Crame because he couldn't make his next appointment in time and will be reprimanded by his boss. I half pitied the cab driver, he asked me to pay Php 50, while my bill was at Php 105 already, I had no choice but to agree under the condition that he absolutely had to get me another cab. I was not going to go down unless I had a replacement, I had a huge duffel bag with me. Aside from being a G.I. (Geographical Idiot), I couldn't decipher my way around Camp Crame. Thankfully, God listened to my call and I got a cab in no time.

Whew! It was super traffic to go to Eastwood and I got there at 3PM.

I went to the Eastwood Richmonde hotel front desk to check in and in less than a couple of minutes, I was on my way up to the 30th floor. The view was fantastic., not to mention that they had a window seat for me to sit and enjoy the view. I must've sat there for a couple of hours, watching different movies from FOX family channel.

During a commercial break, I glanced down at the view below me and saw a long line of people. Curiosity got the better of me so I quickly took a bath and hurried downstairs to check what was happening below.

To my surprise, Kpop band 2AM was performing their grand show in front of Eastwood Mall at 5pm and as early as 4PM, people were waiting for them to perform. Since I was hungry, I bought Nuggets from McDo and went back to the hotel room. I planned on going down once I hear the crowd cheering.

I could barely see 2AM, they were blocked by the raised cellphones and cameras, so I had no choice but to bring out my camera and take a picture of them.

*2AM was once part of the eleven-member boy band ONE DAY. When they disbanded, two sub-groups were formed. 2AM (four members) and 2PM (seven members, now six since Jay Park left the group). Both Taecyeon and Wooyoung from Dream High are members of 2PM.

I didn't finish the concert because it was too hot outside. I simply went around Eastwood Mall and then back to the hotel.

The whole room in 360 degrees (well not really)

I was happy entertaining myself while waiting for my mom and brother to arrive. They were stuck in traffic for two hours. Gave me a much needed alone time.

I will definitely stay in Eastwood Richmonde hotel again. The location is fantastic. There is a connecting area to the Eastwood Mall at the second floor and plenty of food choices below. While we were there, there were a lot of activities too. Shopping bazaar, painters from London, concert (next week Lee Dewyze will be in Eastwood Mall), and there was a dessert exhibit inside the mall - opening of Thor too.

What I wore: F21 navy blue cowl top and Ivory O-ring; black sleeveless dress from a bazaar; Accessorize brown shoulder bag and Grendha bronze jeweled t-strap

KRIS KRINGLE: Something Big

I never thought it would be hard to find something BIG for Php 100 pesos ($2) I short listed the following for my fashionable friend: ...a big box of tissue (useful) ...a big toblerone (but this is WAY over budget) ...a big trash bin ...a case of big oatmeal cookies (last resort) ...a big mirror ...a big bookmark (which i couldn't find anywhere) ...a BIG beer (unrelated) ...a big organizer it's quite difficult really. But I must search for something else. PRESSURE! On a side note, Jamie treated us to Pizza Hut's Lechon pizza. After eating, I felt like I would pass out at any moment due to high cholesterol but it was quite tasty if you're a fan of Lechon (roasted pig). The pizza did taste a bit like Mang Tomas' lechon sauce. A big slice of Pizza hut's lechon pizza

Around Manila: Exploring the streets of J.P. Rizal in Marikina

It is funny how we know the history and culture of a land we do not live in yet know so little about where we live. Thus, began our mission to explore Manila, one city at a time. DESTINATION: Marikina Starting Time: 11am End Time: 5pm How to get to J.P. Rizal in Marikina - Waze (app) and Google Maps Marikeno (native people in Marikina) are said to be the most disciplined people in the Philippines. If the cleanliness around Marikina were a testament to that, Marikenos would pass with flying colors. The streets I could say were similar to those in Singapore - free from litter and we saw people from households cleaning their own front area even if it were facing a street. SHOE CAPITAL of the Philippines Marikina produces 70% of the shoes in the country. and holds the World's Largest Pair of Shoes, recognized by the Guinness World Records. In Marikina, you can find the Shoe Museum which houses 800 out of the 3000 shoes that were part of the famous shoe collection of the
