Mad about Marc

What's not to love about Marc Jacobs? Drool, I want them all.

Out of the blue

Every year, Ovation Productions would bring in famous artist/bands to Manila. This year, they’re having a back to back concert: Lettermen (famous boy band back in the 60s and 70s) and Cascades (American vocal group who were famous in the 60s) When my mom, who was born in the 50’s, found out about it, she was estatic. She hurriedly asked us to search for the performance date. When both Lettermen and Cascades came to Manila, a few years back, they were able to watch the show separately and they loved it! I remember my mom telling us that they sang non-stop and they finished just before midnight. It was super “sulit” and worth watching again. On a side note, due to my influence, my mom has to listen to her ipod before she can sleep. The artists for her “sleep playlist”? Lettermen and Cascades. So imagine her excitement when she found out they were singing back to back! Unfortunately, they couldn’t buy tickets because of budget constraints (VIP at 4k+) so I secretly asked my brother if he ...

Dream A Little Dream

I have had this recurring dream for a while now. My family and I (well, I think I'm with my family-my dad was the driver on two occasions and I was seated behind the passenger's seat) would go to a vacation spot and somehow we always find ourselves lost and the next thing we know, we've taken a wrong turn and we're plunging at break neck speed into a river (think white water rafting river) but somehow even if we're inside a car, we always manage to stay afloat in the river. Then I usually wake up. I tried to search online for some interpretation and here's what I found: Plunge To dream that you are plunging into something, indicates that you are facing some uncertainty in your waking life. You need to be willing to take a risk in order to move forward toward your goals River To see a raging river in your dream, signifies that your life is feeling out of control. You are feeling emotionally unsettled. Alternatively, a river means you are ready to confront life...

DiCaprio to visit the Philippines in August

Leonardo DiCaprio is coming for a visit early next month. This piece of good news was confirmed by DiCaprio himself through his Hollywood agents and publicists. According to earlier reports, DiCaprio was arriving in early 2011. “It turned out that he’s arriving earlier than expected,” said Joyce Ramirez, director for International Publicity at PR Asis Worldwide, who invited DiCaprio not to promote his new movie, Inception, but to spearhead an environmental-awareness project in cooperation with a huge conglomerate in Albay. “DiCaprio will be here for one week. He has chosen to stay at the Misibis Bay, an ultra-luxurious resort. It’s not yet sure if he will make a stopover in Manila or fly straight to Legazpi City on a private jet.” It’s Joyce’s brainchild to bring DiCaprio to the Philippines to help boost our tourism industry especially in Albay, with Legazpi City as a world-class eco-tourism destination. It’s not DiCaprio’s first trip to Asia. After starring in the all-time hit Titanic...

SHARE: 10 things all single people must do

I came across this article on Yahoo and I thought I could apply this in my life - to live life to the fullest. Comments in red 10 things all single people must do Here, we offer a checklist of experiences for single people to try before settling down. 1. Travel alone. Whether you’re trying to find your way through the Paris Metro or the London Underground, haggling over a painting in Mexico or choosing where to bed down in the Badlands, traveling by yourself builds a confidence you simply can’t get any other way. In an unfamiliar place, you have to make decisions by yourself, for yourself every day, which will build a self-reliance you’ll always treasure — even when you become part of a twosome. - My inner paranoia might hinder travelling alone. I’m not sure if living in a third world country has done this to me but I don’t like policemen (I think they’re a bunch of crooks). So I can travel with groups but have time alone, in a first world country like Singapore or the US, I don't...

Are You an AI FAN?

Picture taken by moi during Sis I have always been an avid fan of American idol. My family, friends and officemate, even my boss and the maids knows about this. Every season, work every Wednesday and Thursday will always stop at 6pm on the dot for the live showing of AI on Star World. When I do go home early, I also try to catch the replay at 8pm or 10pm. Yes, I even watch replays on weekends. I don’t know how the show captivates me but I can’t seem to stop watching it. Must be my inner frustrations of being a singer. I also love GLEE so I really must be a frustrated singer! The only seasons I did not get to fully watch was the first two seasons because it wasn’t shown in the country yet and the fifth season where Taylor Hicks got the crown. I felt Katherine Mcphee deserved it more. List of American Idol Winners: Season 1: Kelly Clarkson Season 2: Ruben Studdard Season 3: Fantasia Barrino (Summertime gave me the goosebumps!) Season 4: Carrie Underwood (the best AI singer) Season 5: Tay...

Yahoo Article: How to Upgrade an Old Phone into a Porsche

Most people throw away old cell phones without a second thought. Steven Ortiz is not like most teenagers. This 17-year-old Californian went on Craigslist to turn a used cell phone a friend gave him into a Porsche convertible. Harvard Business School, watch out for this guy. Ortiz's story brings to mind the similar accomplishment of Kyle MacDonald, a Canadian who started "Craigslist swapping" with a red paperclip in 2005 and eventually ended up with a two-story farmhouse. Through his blog and the kindness of strangers, MacDonald made 14 swaps over the classifieds website, upgrading one item to a more valuable one until he ended up with a house a year later. [Click here to check savings products and rates in your area.] Craigslist isn't so different from a newspaper's classified section: People list items they no longer want for whatever reason. But sometimes instead of selling these items for paltry amounts of cash, online users barter with each other. For example,...

Adieu to FEAR of HEIGHTS!

Long weekends don’t come very often so when it does comes up, everyone will try to maximize the longer vacation time. My officemates initially planned to hike in Mt. Pinatubo but with a past hiking experience in Mt. Manalmon and Taal, I decided to pass the opportunity. I told them I will join them if they're going to Subic, the Gods answered my prayers when they changed to Subic instead. Yey! SUBIC HERE WE COME!!! As the Itinerary planner, I decided on Zoobic and Tree Top Adventure Park. Tree top in the morning since it closes at 4pm and Zoobic in the afternoon. We’re all set! The attractions in Tree Top Adventure Park looked harmless and fun in the pictures. Little did I know what I signed up for. What I thought was harmless fun turned out to be spine chilling. This is the Tree Drop attraction. You’re strapped at the waist and then you’re dropped to the ground. Sounds simple right? But letting go of the ledge is actually the hardest part. I think I spent more than 5 minutes on the...

Sorcerer's Apprentice

I watched Sorcerer's Apprentice last Sunday and needless to say I was quite frustrated . The movie was off to a good start, but somewhere in between I got bored. I'm not saying it's a bad movie - there's a lot of potential if they made it more exciting and magical that will keep me at the edge of my seat like Inception. What I Wore:

Botox much?

Charice underwent thermage and Botox procedures just before her concert in Eastwood Park in Quezon City. I have nothing against Botox just as long as stars don't do them too much that they end up looking like feline friends or even worse, be deprived of emotions in their faces. Chanel in my mind

On night while on the way home from dinner out with the girls, I happen to see something on a taxi that made my LOL! Behold the new Chanel cab.

Jewel on my mind

While browsing through Yahoo, I came across this video from Funny or Die wherein Jewel, disguised as a geeky businesswoman, went to a karaoke bar and sing fabulously on-stage. I love this prank. I'm checking my itunes to see if I have the songs she sang in the video. Undercover Karaoke with Jewel from Jewel

Basyang, Basyang

Everybody thought typhoon Basyang was just another ordinary typhoon – there will be rain so we better pack our umbrellas. By afternoon, Pag-Asa declared class suspension for Elementary students. The sun decided to come out. Everything went back to normal. But by 10pm, the rain started to come down lightly there was still no sign of flood in our area so we went to all went to sleep. I plugged in my ipod so it will block out the howling wind. By 1:30am my mom woke me up, the big tree in our street was uprooted and fell on some electrical wires. My Dad switched off our main breakers so we had no electricity but our neighbors lights were still on. There were sparks seen on the electrical wires and the wind was blowing our way. Sparks+Wind+Wood = _i_e Damn. My window kept on opening on its own, the wind kept on wailing like there’s no tomorrow. There were people shouting outside. My mom told me to pack some stuff for emergency. PANIC MODE. Our Father’s and Hail Mary started coming out from ...

Gastronomic weekends with my MOM

Every Friday, I always vow to start losing weight the next day because of the late Friday night dinners that are more often than not carbs+fat combined. But every Saturday I always find myself breaking my vow. My mom is one of those typical mom who would wake up early in the morning to fix us breakfast and would make sure we have merienda (snack) to eat by the time we get home from school. Even if the merienda is just a bowl of cup noodles, we will always have something to expect . So imagine her frustration when I started working in advertising and started to go home late at night. I no longer had a chance to eat any meals with them because I am always in a rush, leaving for work early in the morning and coming home late at night. So as retaliation for all those missed dinners, my mom would make up for it during weekends. Weekend is a gastronomic feast to the stomach. With typically 4 meals a day, weekend is something you shouldn't miss. Breakfast would typically consist of sinang...

Happy Friday!

Nothing makes me happier than knowing that tomorrow when I wake up, it's Friday. Well, GOOD MORNING, Friday. I like Friday's because it signifies the end of a sometimes long work week (Trust me this week is an epic week that will go down in the list!) and the start of a fabulous weekend. Nothing has been planned yet but one thing's for sure I'm going shopping again tomorrow. :) I'll post my fab finds (most probably at Forever 21 AGAIN!). HAPPY FRIDAY.
