Burger in Review: Burger Bar and Lusso

Since I work in makati area, I make it a point to try at least something new at least once a week.

I was craving for burgers this morning and who would've known that by the the end of the day, I would have had two burgers meals - please be kind to my belly!

I introduce to you the Hangover Burger from Burger Bar in Greenbelt 2!

Onion-griddled double patty big game blend of hanger and brisket, yellow cheddar, crisp prosciutto, fried egg, arugula, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce and house aioli all on a sesame seed bun

Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. The presentation was less than appealing - see picture below but when I took a bite of the burger, it was really bland. So bland that I had to ask for extra salt and pepper and even ketchup - yes, that bland.

I just ate the bland patty with my extra condiments and basically left everything else behind, such a waste of calories to eat them all anyway.

Hangover Burger Php 285

My disappointing lunch transcended to dinner. I wanted, no, I needed a good burger, good enough to wipe lunch's burger off my mind. And I suddenly remembered an officemate saying something about Lusso in GB5 so I headed there with burger in my mind. Hehe

Lusso in Italian, mean Luxe, so my expectations were melt in your mouth juicy burgers!

We ordered the Lusso Demi-Pound Burger
US Beef, Foie Gras, Cambozola Bath and Prosecco Onions

And this did not disappoint!
The bread was firm on the outside yet tender inside and had a salty taste to it. The burger was juicy and thick but cooked well until the inside. The Foie Gras was soft and flavorful.

If you want to cleanse your palette, the side salad fits the bill.

As for the Cambozola bath, I preferred it as a dip for the fries, it has a tangy cheesy after taste rather than on the burger - you will not be able to distinguish the Cambozola Cheese if you eat it with the burger.

This made my tummy really happy. :)

Half of the Lusso Demi Pound Burger (Full price at Php 625)

Big Foie Gras cut in the middle

Another entree caught our eyes as well - carb lovers unite! - the Luxe "Mac and Cheese"
Pancetta, Formaggio Trio

This tastes like your regular Mac and Cheese with a cheesy kick afterwards, the cheese was so mild you would want to take another bite to be satisfied with the cheesy taste you were looking for.

This reminds me of the Truffled Mac and Cheese in 2nd's.

Luxe "Mac and Cheese" Php 645

Okay, so now I'm craving for a burger again! :(

KRIS KRINGLE: Something Big

I never thought it would be hard to find something BIG for Php 100 pesos ($2) I short listed the following for my fashionable friend: ...a big box of tissue (useful) ...a big toblerone (but this is WAY over budget) ...a big trash bin ...a case of big oatmeal cookies (last resort) ...a big mirror ...a big bookmark (which i couldn't find anywhere) ...a BIG beer (unrelated) ...a big organizer it's quite difficult really. But I must search for something else. PRESSURE! On a side note, Jamie treated us to Pizza Hut's Lechon pizza. After eating, I felt like I would pass out at any moment due to high cholesterol but it was quite tasty if you're a fan of Lechon (roasted pig). The pizza did taste a bit like Mang Tomas' lechon sauce. A big slice of Pizza hut's lechon pizza

Around Manila: Exploring the streets of J.P. Rizal in Marikina

It is funny how we know the history and culture of a land we do not live in yet know so little about where we live. Thus, began our mission to explore Manila, one city at a time. DESTINATION: Marikina Starting Time: 11am End Time: 5pm How to get to J.P. Rizal in Marikina - Waze (app) and Google Maps Marikeno (native people in Marikina) are said to be the most disciplined people in the Philippines. If the cleanliness around Marikina were a testament to that, Marikenos would pass with flying colors. The streets I could say were similar to those in Singapore - free from litter and we saw people from households cleaning their own front area even if it were facing a street. SHOE CAPITAL of the Philippines Marikina produces 70% of the shoes in the country. and holds the World's Largest Pair of Shoes, recognized by the Guinness World Records. In Marikina, you can find the Shoe Museum which houses 800 out of the 3000 shoes that were part of the famous shoe collection of the
