Driving to and from Work

Driving to and from Makati has me experimenting new routes. I am always on the quest to discover new faster and better route than to bear more than an hour traffic in EDSA- with all the red lights looking back at you, it;s hard not to go insane and start ramming cars left and right from frustration.

Aside from routes, there are actually days when there's minimal traffic and it's better to bring a car than suffer from unscrupulous cab drivers.

I go to work from Monday to Friday hence the rush hour really applies to me especially when my road trip takes me from North to South on a daily basis.

Here goes:

FROM QC TO MAKATI:
Route 1: (Araneta Ave - V Mapa - Zamora - Zapote - Ayala Extension)
BEST ROUTE 1 HOUR from Banawe to Ayala corner Paseo
Take Araneta Avenue (quite a long stretch depending on where you're from) and turn right to Aurora Blvd.
Straight and turn left at the first corner (V. Mapa)
Turn right at the dead end this will lead you to a string on motels left and right but just keep on going straight to the curvy road
From the string of motels, you have 2 options: opt1: take a left turn in 1 motel and pay Php1 to pass their shortcut or take a U-turn further ahead
Once your on the other side of the motel chains, take a right turn to Zamora Bridge (or sometimes called the Pandacan bridge by the cab drivers) the bridge is quite long but once you see the big intersection, turn left.
on your left you will see San Miguel Corp
Go straight, (you will pass by one stop light) along the curved road until you reach a dead end (one way)
From the dead end, turn left then turn left again at the second corner. Then go straight until you see a small street called Kamagong, turn right. the straight until another dead end, turn right, on your left you will see Total Gas
Turn left the next corner then left again (essentially a u-turn of sorts) this will lead you to Ayala Extension

Route 2: (Araneta Ave - Greenhills - Mandaluyong - left at Nueve de Pebrero, Maysilo, Francisco, Mandaluyong Makati Bridge - Makati Ave
traffic especially during school season

FROM MAKATI to QC:
Option 1: EDSA
RUNNING TIME: Depends on traffic (30mins to 2 hours)
Best time to pass: Monday to Thursday 10PM onwards (9PM = moderate traffic)
DON'T even think about using EDSA during Friday night - it is traffic even past midnight (especially on a payday weekend - que horror)

Option 2: Makati - Rockwell - Mandaluyong - Nuebe De Pebrero - Greenhills - Aurora Blvd to Araneta
RUNNING TIME: 1 hr and a half

Option 3: Makati - Rockwell - Mandaluyong - Nuebe De Pebrero - V Mapa to Araneta
RUNNING TIME: 1 hr and 20 mins

Option 4: Makati - Ayala Extension - South Super - Quirino - Zamora Bridge - V Mapa to Araneta

RUNNING TIME: 1 hour ( depending on Araneta cor Quezon Ave traffic)

BEST DAYS to DRIVE:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

WORST DAYS TO DRIVE: (Worst days to commute too)
Monday and Friday

KRIS KRINGLE: Something Big

I never thought it would be hard to find something BIG for Php 100 pesos ($2) I short listed the following for my fashionable friend: ...a big box of tissue (useful) ...a big toblerone (but this is WAY over budget) ...a big trash bin ...a case of big oatmeal cookies (last resort) ...a big mirror ...a big bookmark (which i couldn't find anywhere) ...a BIG beer (unrelated) ...a big organizer it's quite difficult really. But I must search for something else. PRESSURE! On a side note, Jamie treated us to Pizza Hut's Lechon pizza. After eating, I felt like I would pass out at any moment due to high cholesterol but it was quite tasty if you're a fan of Lechon (roasted pig). The pizza did taste a bit like Mang Tomas' lechon sauce. A big slice of Pizza hut's lechon pizza

Around Manila: Exploring the streets of J.P. Rizal in Marikina

It is funny how we know the history and culture of a land we do not live in yet know so little about where we live. Thus, began our mission to explore Manila, one city at a time. DESTINATION: Marikina Starting Time: 11am End Time: 5pm How to get to J.P. Rizal in Marikina - Waze (app) and Google Maps Marikeno (native people in Marikina) are said to be the most disciplined people in the Philippines. If the cleanliness around Marikina were a testament to that, Marikenos would pass with flying colors. The streets I could say were similar to those in Singapore - free from litter and we saw people from households cleaning their own front area even if it were facing a street. SHOE CAPITAL of the Philippines Marikina produces 70% of the shoes in the country. and holds the World's Largest Pair of Shoes, recognized by the Guinness World Records. In Marikina, you can find the Shoe Museum which houses 800 out of the 3000 shoes that were part of the famous shoe collection of the
