I can still hear the instrumental bridal march ringing in my ears as the Church doors swung open to reveal a shadow, standing in the bright sunlight. All eyes were focused on her, all breaths were held, it was as if time stopped still. As she slowly walked down the aisle, I saw my friend looking divine in her white dress. A tear escaped my eyes as I see a vision in white with her parents and even more so when I saw all the love in the world in the groom's eyes - the second aisle suddenly turned into ladies in royal blue with tear stricken eyes.
I can still remember the moment as if it were yesterday, my friend for the past ten years, got married to her boyfriend for ten years during their tenth year anniversary. A perfect ten, one might say.
Rewind to 10AM earlier that day, I was a nervous wreck for some reason. It felt like as if I was the one getting married. It didn't help that I had to drive from my house to Alabang by myself (Note that I just started driving long distance - if you can call driving from QC to Makati that- less than a month ago). I hurriedly loaded my stuff I packed the night before and started my journey to Alabang - Filinvest Exit to be exact.
The trip was uneventful, except for paying the toll Php 110 and driving at 100 speed in SLEX. I was able to get to Vivere Suites in an hour and a half.
I was really excited to see my friend and wanted to catch up with her, we haven't seen each other in such a long time. Once to be greeted with a throng of videographers, photographers and
coordinators running around the room. I think the two bedroom suite had about twenty people at some point and it was packed to the hilt. The room was tensed with camera flashes left and right.
Tito was super excited, he couldn't seem to contain himself in anticipation, Tita was the calm one fixing her clothes and exuding the aura of calmness. While Mikey and I, thought of ourselves as the goofy pair, dancing around to make the bride laugh in her photos, reassuring her that everything is okay and under control and basically (hopefully) easing the tense room.
Everything was so surreal. Everything was moving all at the same time and at a fast pace. The last family picture as a single woman, the photo while zipping up her gown, the shoes and all the details were a blur.
Fast forward to a couple of minutes before the wedding, we were all excited in anticipation of the ceremony. The bride's sister, Mikey, was a nervous wreck like I was. Her hands were clammy, we were both afraid that we would trip while walking down the aisle.
To break the ice, there were jokes being tossed around on who would end up with tears in their eyes - the mother or the father of the bride. My bet was the Father - and I was right.
Thankfully, we didn't trip- but I think the photo of me walking down the aisle will have the look of a frightened cat.
The Church wedding went splendidly, it couldn't have been any more perfect than it was.
