West River Side

Tucked in one of the building along Banawe is a quaint restaurant called Cafe Monaco. From the outside, the interiors looked cozy and perfect for hanging out with friends but I was quite surprised when I stepped inside to find out that most tables were occupied by families. And people actually are willing to wait for their turn to be seated! Kudos for that. My basis for choosing a restaurant is based on the line/wait. If the line is long or the waiting list is long, then it must be worth trying. We ate dinner at this restaurant yesterday evening and I actually loved it! It's a bit weird though that the name of the restaurant is Cafe Monaco but they serve a lot of Korean dishes. My aunt said that the owner of the place married a Korean hence the menu with Korean dishes. We tried bibimbap and at first bite, it was okay but the more you chew the better it gets. Chic-Boy Chicken and Baboy - the latest resto to hit the Metro with it's rapid expansion. There are two branches nearby that I pass by - every single day. One in Roosevelt and the other in West Ave. There signboard says: Cebu Lechon Manok, Cebu Lechon Liempo and Chicken Inasal We ordered the following (prices in parenthesis): Pork BBQ (99), Cebu Liempo (?), Cebu Chicken (210), 2 Kang Kong (30), Diniguan (?), Calamares (150) My brother had a hard time deciding what to get because they all look mouthwatering! The interiors reminded me of Mang Inasal (table set-up) and Gerry's Grill (design) Their very own lechon sauce - which we didn't use. We didn't want to expire from high cholesterol!
